Photo Gallery | PHOTOS: Cutest K-9 Of The Week

Meet this week’s “Cutest K-9,” Penny Lane, a 1-year-old German Shepherd/hound mix who lives in Arlington, Va.

This lovable pup was rescued from the Washington Animal Rescue League when she was 3-months-old, and just celebrated her first birthday on Tuesday with a fun party, and a cake!

Her mom says she grew her long legs over night, which makes her look a bit floppy, but adorably graceful at times.

Penny is very friendly, energetic, and playful, and loves meeting new people, and other animals at the dog park. Her favorite thing is having visitors come over, and when it comes to playing fetch, Penny would choose a stick over a tennis ball any day.

She is a very outdoorsy girl, loves to get muddy, and has even buried bones in the backyard!

Not only is Penny charming, but also smart, as she has mastered the art of the “shake” and “roll over”.

After a long day at the dog park, Penny loves nothing more than a large bowl of water with ice cubes-so refreshing!

This delightful German Shepherd/hound mix is our seventh featured K-9. Every Friday, we will feature one adorable dog. Do you think your dog has what it takes to be named your neighborhood's cutest K-9? If so, then we want to hear from you!

Send your photos to wusa-webproduction@wusa9.com where we will vote on the cutest pup.

Your four-legged friend could have the chance to be featured on our website.

Good luck, and we hope you have a paw-tastic Friday!
