WATERLOO, Md. -- Maryland State Police and State Highway Administration personnel remain on the scene of a crash on northbound I-95 at Rt. 100 in Howard County and expect the interstate could remain closed through the evening rush as the cleanup continues.

The crash occurred shortly before 3:00 p.m. today and involved a tractor trailer driven by Jeffrey M. Simpson, of Bel Air, Md., that was carrying junked vehicles. For reasons not known at this time, the tractor trailer overturned. Some of the junked vehicles being hauled fell into the roadway and caused two other minor crashes. No serious injuries were reported for any of the drivers involved.

The interstate had to be closed due to the junked vehicles and debris littered across all four lanes. Cleanup of the debris and a fuel spill from the truck tractor continues.

State Highway Administration personnel are detouring northbound traffic onto Rt. 100. Drivers are advised to avoid the area for the next several hours if at all possible.
