The Show (Alexandria Restaurant Week) Must Go On!

The Show (Alexandria Restaurant Week) Must Go On!

I ventured into Old Town Alexandria today to see how the restaurants were impacted by yesterday's "thunder-snow" storm. After speaking with a handful of restaurants, the consensus was that restaurant week will continue as planned, and none of the restaurants will be adding any extra days. Did you have a reservation last night that you missed because of the storm? We want to hear from you. Email us at neighborhoods@wusa9.com.

Check out the video to hear from Steve Mendoza of Pizza Paradiso and Bryan Penn of RedRocks Pizza Napoletana to hear how their pizza joints were affected by the storm last night and during today's lunch crowd. And find out what menu items you don't want to miss!

Dinner and a movie for $50?! That seems unheard of by today’s standards, but La Tasca restaurant in Rockville, MD is making it happen.

Now at La Tasca you can have dinner and a movie for two all for $50. The package includes:

1 Starter Dish

5 Tapas

1 Dessert to share

2 Movie Tickets to ANY Regal Cinema with absolutely NO expiration date.

I spoke with La Tasca Manager Mariana Pisciottano to find out more about her restaurant and current promotions.

“We opened about 4 years ago. I love this location and we have a good response from the Rockville community. All of [Rockville Town Center] was still under construction when we started. We have pretty good business, but I feel like it’s getting better and better every year. 2010 was a great year for us,” says Pisciottano.

Chick-fil-A Restaurant Opening Nov. 18 in Crystal City

The following was sent to us by Cindi Pickett of CP Communications Inc.:

CRYSTAL CITY, Va. (Nov. 18, 2010) The Chick-fil-A® restaurant chain and its renegade Cows, who this year mark 15 years of encouraging people to “Eat Mor Chikin,” will celebrate the Nov. 18 opening of Crystal City’s first Chick-fil-A restaurant by awarding a free year’s supply of Chick-fil-A to the first 100 adults in line that morning at the new location.

Started seven years ago as an idea for an Arizona restaurant opening, Chick-fil-A’s First 100 Celebration has become the signature event of each grand opening around the country. The chain’s loyal customers often arrive 24 hours in advance of the opening -- no matter the location or weather conditions.

From the Town of Leesburg – In the November 2010 issue of Northern Virginia Magazine, three Leesburg restaurants are featured in the magazine’s annual list of the area’s 50 Best Restaurants.  All three restaurants—Lightfoot Restaurant, Tuscarora Mill, and The Wine Kitchen—are also recognized as “Destination Restaurants” by Visit Loudoun (www.visitloudoun.org).

“Northern Virginia Magazine’s recognition of these remarkable Leesburg restaurants accurately showcases the growing culinary arts culture in Leesburg,” commented Ara Bagdasarian, chair of Leesburg’s Economic Development Commission.
