DC Walk for the Animals TODAY

From Jacquie Toppings:

The Washington Humane Society (WHS) will host the DC Walk for the Animals to celebrate animals and end pet homelessness in DC today, Saturday, October 15 at the Marie Reed Learning Center in Adams Morgan. The event begins at 10 a.m.; program at 11 a.m.; and walk at noon. In addition to a variety of family-friendly activities, including contests, entertainment, activity booths and food trucks, the community will have the opportunity to meet WHS Humane Law Enforcement and Animal Care and Control Officers who work to combat cruelty and protect and serve animals, including those officers involved in breaking up the recent animal fighting rings. Event participants can watch as Animal Care and Control Officers demonstrate a tree rescue to show how they save DC’s animals in need. Officers will also be available to answer questions throughout the event.  WHS will bring adoptable dogs and will host a foster cat tent at the event field. Adoption fees on all animals present will be waived. In addition, the DC Department of Health will offer DC dog and dog park licenses as well as free vaccination services for those attending with their own canine companions.
