Capitol Hill Hosts Adoptable Pets From Animal Welfare League Of Alexandria | Pets

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) - They're not campaigning for votes, though they may shake some hands and pose for pictures. And they're completely non-partisan in their politics. They're the dogs, cats, puppies and kittens who'll be visiting Capitol Hill on Tuesday July 24, in celebration of the annual ASPCA's Paws For Celebration.
This event is hosted by the Congressional Animal Protection Caucus, and shelters and animal rescue groups from the DC area, including the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, will be attending with four-legged furry adoptable candidates.
For hard-working Congressional staffers, it's a chance to take a welcome break from their busy election-year duties and enjoy the stress-relieving opportunity to stroke a soft coat or hold a sweet companion animal on their laps.
Paws for Celebration raises awareness about the animal welfare mission and reminds everyone about the benefits of adopting shelter pets, such as Atlas, pictured, who are patiently waiting for their forever homes.
Paws for Celebration will be held in the Cannon Caucus Room in the Cannon House Building from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday. If you work on the Hill, what better chance to meet and greet some new friends who will never ask for your vote, only your heart.
