Helping Women in Transition Make Sound Financial Decisions

Helping Women in Transition Make Sound Financial Decisions

A Woman in Transition is a woman who finds herself bracing for a new phase in life.  “Transition” is not just a change in routines, relationships or social status – it is a fundamental shift in a woman’s identity.  It could be brought on with purposeful intent, such as voluntarily retiring from a successful career, or entering a second marriage.  It could be brought on by an unexpected surprise, such as losing a spouse to a heart attack, or becoming single after a painful divorce.  For a Woman in Transition, the uncertainty of the future can result in anxiety and fear and/or excitement and anticipation.

Local Nonprofit Organization Gives Vietnam Veteran More than a Paw

From Paws4Vets:

While serving in Vietnam in 1968, U.S. Army Colonel Sonny Morrow of Alexandria, Va. stepped on a landmine and, as a result, received damage to his right knee and shrapnel in his right leg. After recovery, Morrow attended fixed wing flight school and returned to Vietnam in 1970 where he flew silent night aircrafts and helicopters until he returned to the US 1971. Morrow spent his Military career developing advanced engineering concepts for Army Aviation and retired in 1987.

Retired from the armed services, Morrow was diagnosed with post polio syndrome in both legs causing him to lose the ability to walk. In addition, Morrow continued to have complications from the landmine shockwaves and had his right knee replaced in 2003.  Thanks to an important addition to his life – Jake, a certified assistance dog – Morrow is able to carry on with his daily duties.
