Man killed in Arlington police-involved shooting ID'd

ARLINGTON, Va. (WUSA9) -- A man was shot and killed during a police-involved shooting in Arlington on Tuesday, according to Arlington County police.

The man has been identified as 54-year-old Alfredo Rials-Torres of Arlington.

Rials-Torres died at the hospital after police shot him in the chest. A woman and two officers were also injured in the incident.

Police said that screaming could be heard on an anonymous 911 call. After the two officers arrived, a neighbor said the altercation sounded like Rials-Torres was attacking the officers when they tried to help his elderly mother.

Arlington parking meter rate to increase by 25 cents

ARLINGTON, Va. (WUSA9) -- A 25 cent-per-hour increase in metered parking rates was approved Saturday by the Arlington County Board.

The board is holding off on a proposed two-hour extension of operating hours until the September board meeting. This will allow for more time for public outreach.

1 dead, 1 injured in Alexandria apartment fire

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA9) -- A man is dead and another person has serious burn injuries after an Alexandria apartment fire Saturday morning, officials said.

The apartment fire happened in the 4700 block of Kenmore Avenue around 6 a.m. One person died and one patient was taken to to hospital with serious burns.

The 4700 block is currently closed to traffic.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Red Cross is helping 11 apartment units, WUSA9's Stephanie Ramirez reports.


DC fire was intentional; 2 of 4 victims ID'd

Man shot during large fight in Va. parking lot

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA9) -- A 37-year-old man was shot and taken to the hospital after a large fight broke out in the Fast Eddie's parking lot in Alexandria early Friday morning, police said.

Fairfax County police responded to a report of a large fight involving about 50 people at 6220 Richmond Highway. When they got to the scene they found a man suffering from injuries to his upper body. The Woodbridge man was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

He has since been upgraded to non-life threatening injuries, however he is still in the hospital, police said.

No arrests were made and the investigation is ongoing.

MISSING: 97-year-old man

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA9) - Alexandria police are asking for help locating a missing 97-year-old man.

Police say they are looking for Charles Corns. He's described as a 5-foot 10-inch man weighing 180 pounds.

Corns may be driving a green Infiniti J30 with Virginia tags WUR-3896.

Anyone with information about Corns' whereabouts is asked to call 703-746-4444.

Victim pushed from wheelchair, robbed in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA9) -- Police are looking for a suspect who pushed a victim from a wheelchair and then stole money in Alexandria Friday.

The robbery happened in the 300 block of N. Wythe St., police said. The suspect is known to the victim, according to authorities.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA9) -- A bizarre case involving a former FBI agent who made violent threats at the CIA last Thursday just got a little stranger. Tunisia Davis never made it to her federal court date in Alexandria.

Ex-FBI agent to appear in court for CIA incident

According to the US Marshals Service, Davis was so uncooperative, she couldn't be transported to the courthouse without using force.

Last week, Davis posted a bizarre video to a Facebook page in the days before she showed up at the gates of the National Security Agency and later, at the CIA.
