Title (Max 100 Charaters)
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA) -- Thomas Jefferson, junior Richard Kuzma, was one of the top offensive players on the Colonials' varsity basketball team this season. He was nominated for Scholar Athlete of the Week by his classmate, Mayank Jain.
Kuzma maintains a 4.1 GPA and head basketball coach, Mark Gray-Mendes, said he is very good with his time management.
Kuzma averaged 19 points per game this season, and is "an excellent mid-range shooter," said Gray-Mendes.
In addition to taking three AP classes, Kuzma is taking Analog Electronics and Automated Robotic Systems, wrote Jain.
Gray-Mendes predicts Kuzma will hit the hardwood again next year with the same enthusiasm he did this season.
"My expectation is he'll be again one of the better players in our district, and hopefully one of the better players in the area and lead us to even greater success than we had this year."
