From the Committee to Elect Scott Gordon:

Scott Gordon, member of the Del Ray Citizen’s Association and member of The City Council’s Sister Cities Commission has announced his candidacy for Alexandria City Council in November 2012. As a Moderate Republican, Mr. Gordon seeks the Council seat as a strong fiscal conservative and a liberal social activist.

When asked about his platform Mr. Gordon said, “I am for small business that is, streamlining and easing the process for businesses to get permitted and licensed so they may open their doors and begin to generate revenue. I am for protecting our waterfront from destruction in the name of re-development but for utilizing existing spaces appropriately for mixed-use retail and residential buildings, among other issues that I'll speak more about as time goes on.”

Scott Gordon is a highly experienced Financial Services professional with years of experience in consulting with clients on how to best protect their families and assets. He has a Business Degree from Marylhurst University and a Master’s Degree in Inter-Organizational Psychology from Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, VA.

Scott is a proud supporter of Alexandria and especially his neighborhood of Del Ray where he and his wife Jennie bought their first house after marriage and second home recently to make room for their newly arrived daughter. Alexandria has been Scott's home for nearly a decade and through his experiences as a Board Member for the Del Ray Citizen's Association and an elected member of the Alexandria Sister Cities Commission has seen the good, the bad, and the ugly.

While a card carrying Republican, Scott is also a card carrying member of the ACLU, a member of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, and a supporter of bi-partisan relationship building as a means to affect positive change.

In his spare time, Scott is a Coxswain with Alexandria Community Rowing, a Mountain Climber and Triathlete. He's happily married to Jennie Elise Gordon, a Public Servant for Arlington County, and spends every free second he has with his beautiful daughter Elinore Judith.
