Staffers volunteer to stay at Alexandria animal shelter
News

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA9) -- A labor of love!

A couple of people in Virginia volunteered to be cooped up with a bunch of animals during the blizzard.

The Alexandria's Animal Welfare League is like a hospital and the animals need 24-hour care. Two staff members volunteered to stay inside of the animal shelter with the animals until the storm passes and the roads are clear.

Since Friday afternoon, the two workers have been making sure the animals get their food, medicine and any other care they may need to survive the storm.

In return, the workers hope to raise money from donations for each hour they spend at the shelter.
