Man arrested after 10 mile chase in Fairfax County

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA9) -- Two Fairfax County police cars and a Virginia State Police car were hit Friday during a pursuit in Alexandria, according to the Alexandria police.

The accident happened in the 1500 block of Eisenhower Avenue where police say a pursuit ended from Hunter Village off of Old Keene Mill Road in the Springfield area due to a traffic charge.

Police charged 47-year-old, Zoltan A. Mogan, of Springfield in connection with the pursuit that started around 10:40 a.m. A 1999 Toyota Camary was disrupting traffic in the area, so an officer tried to make a traffic stop.

Mogan ignored the officer's order and fled the area. According to authorities, Virginia State police chased the vehicle on Interstate 495. Two Fairfax County police cruises were struck by the suspect during the pursuit. One of the trooper's car was also damaged. Nobody was hurt in the pursuit.

Police said the incident came to an end in a parking lot close to Eisenhower Avenue and Hooffs Run Drive at around 10:57 a.m. The suspect was arrested and taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Mogan is being charged with impeding flow of traffic, felony speeding to elude and two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer.

The investigation remains ongoing.
