Alexandria community prays for missing teen

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA9) -- If you have children, you can only imagine what the parents of 16-year-old Zainesha Hawkins of Alexandria in Fairfax County, are going through. Wednesday night marked the 29th night they'll try to sleep, knowing their daughter is missing. And on Wednesday, more than 100 people in the community came out to pray for her safe return.

They came to the Harvest Assembly Baptist Church to hear songs, prayer and listen to Zaneisha's mom, Tammi Daniels.

"It has been a nightmare. I don't know where my baby is, I haven't heard her voice since August 11th," Daniels said.

But Wednesday was about holding up her parents, both Daniels and Zaneisha's dad Cecil Hawkins. It was also about keeping Zaneisha's spirit alive. Daniels says it gets tougher to deal with every day.

"Zainesha is a very beautiful girl, I mean she is gorgeous, can dance, sing, and we love her so much, she's our baby," Daniels said.

One by one, they lit candles to end the night. Hawkins made a heartfelt plea to his daughter.

"Baby girl, come home. You know you can always talk to daddy about anything, so just come home."

If you have any information that might help bring Zaneisha home, call either 911 or 1-800-THE-LOST.
