ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA) - The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is celebrating the new school year by holding a "Bark To School" open house adoption event on Thurs. Sept. 6.
Adopters can meet shelter staff and animals, and two dedicated local 7th graders, Julia Burke and Virginia Kane, will be recognized for their fundraising efforts. The girls baked and sold tasty "pupcakes" throughout the summer to benefit the homeless pets.
AWLA is also waiving adoption fees on adult animals for those who donate shelter supplies between Sept.5-Sept. 11.
A large selection of loving dogs, cats and small animals are all awaiting their forever homes. If your family is looking to add a new furry friend, see the attached photos and visit www.AlexandriaAnimals.org for more information.
