ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA) - Salvador Portillo, 30, a citizen and national of El Salvador, and member of the MS-13 street gang, previously convicted of sexually assaulting a child in Fairfax County, Va., pled guilty Thursday to illegally reentering the United States after he had been deported, according to Neil H. MacBride, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.
According to court documents, Portillo illegally entered the U.S and was deported by immigration authorities on Oct. 8, 2003. Portillo again illegally reentered the U.S. and was found in Loudoun County, Va., on Nov. 21, 2010. On Dec. 26, 2010, Portillo sexually assaulted an eight-year-old girl in Fairfax County. He was convicted of rape and sodomy in the Fairfax County Circuit Court and sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Portillo was indicted for illegal reentry on Feb. 23, 2012, and was transferred from state to federal custody on July 12, 2012. He faces a maximum penalty of two years in prison when he is sentenced on August 31.
