Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a Dance and Love Stories

Follow Cupid’s arrow to two Fairfax County Park Authority Valentine’s Day programs. On Saturday, February 12, 2011, children ages three to eight will dance and make craft projects from 10 a.m. to noon at Hidden Pond Nature Center’s annual Animal Sweethearts Dance. Kids will love the engaging presentation of How Animals Attract Each Other. The highlight of the event is the premiere of To Thrill a Mockingbird, an original drama for which the nature center is famous. The fee of $8 per child includes refreshments. The George Washington Middle School Campus, 1005 Mount Vernon Ave., welcomes Alexandria City Public Schools students, families and friends to the second international film festival, "Word Languages Animated," at 7 p.m. every Friday from Feb. 11 through March 11. Admission is free. Concession sales will benefit school clubs.

Don't Miss Out On The Biggest Chinese New Year Festival in the Area

Tonight is Chinese New Year's Eve. Tomorrow marks the start of the Year of the Rabbit on the lunar calendar. The Asian Community Service Center is proud to present the 4th Annual Chinese New Year Festival on Saturday, February 12th. The Festival will take place all day long, from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Luther Jackson Middle School in Falls Church, VA. The middle school is located at 3020 Gallows Road. 

The entire school will be filled with Chinese New Year decorations, booths, games, dancing, food, and more. The auditorium, the cafeteria, the gymnasium, and even the hallways will be filled with different cultural activities and decor. Admission is FREE and you will get the chance to try great asian food, watch live performances, see the traditional Chinese New Year Parade, draw prizes, and gain Asian cultural exposure.
