Salon Daniel Hairstylists Donate Hair Services to Local Teens

Salon Daniel of McLean, Va. recently treated 54 local teenage girls to a ‘salon day’ in preparation for Pure Fashion Show on Sun., April 3, in Bethesda, Md. The Salon Daniel hair stylists and make-up artists shared their beauty tips and headshots were taken for the Pure Fashion Show program booklet.

 Pure Fashion is a program designed for girls, ages 14 to 18. It is a character formation program that enhances not only a young woman's external appearance, but more importantly, her interior beauty and balanced self confidence.

National Trust for Historic Preservation Names Alexandria a 2011 Distinctive Destination

On February 15 on Market Square, the City of Alexandria announced that the National Trust for Historic Preservation has named Alexandria to the list of 2011 Dozen Distinctive Destinations. The city earned this prestigious designation for its "urban charm that blends an extraordinary early American past with modern flair and its citizens’ strong commitment to protecting and celebrating their history."

Old Town Alexandria, VA - The Torpedo Factory Art Center and Hungry for Music team up to help young musicians in need with a good old fashioned Louisiana Dance Party, sure to make you happy as a crawfish in mud! Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Hungry for Music, a Washington, D.C.-based charity that helps get instruments into the hands of young musicians in need. Musical instrument donations will also be accepted at the door.

Local Car Wash Gives Free 80 Car Washes to Customers Donating Coats

Speedy Green Car Wash of Manassas, Va. donated 80 coats, as well as some scarves, gloves and hats to local, community organization, SERVE, Inc. as part of their January coat drive.
