OLD TOWN MANASSAS FARMER’S MARKETS OPEN

Local, Fresh Produce Available on Thursdays and Saturdays

Old Town Manassas Farmer’s Markets are open Thursdays and Saturdays, now through November. The Thursday Farmer’s market is open 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Harris Pavilion and the Saturday market, located in Lot B, is open 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  For more information about the Historic Manassas, Inc., call 703.361.6599 or go to www.visitmanassas.org.

It’s definitely a sign of spring when our local Farmer’s markets open for business, and we’re happy to host a place for our community to purchase local produce, said Debbie Haight, Historic Manassas, Inc. executive director.

Old Town Manassas Shoppers Can Win Oversized Plush Bunny

Old Town Manassas is featuring “Hop Around Old Town” from Mon., April 18 through Sat., April 23. Participating Old Town Manassas shops will feature a ‘Hop Around Old Town’ pennant on their shop doors.  Shoppers will pick a ‘prize egg’ with every purchase and possibly receive an Easter treat, a prize from a participating shop, or an oversized plush bunny, based on availability.  For more information, please visit www.visitmanassas.org or call 703.361.6599. 

“Hop Around Old Town” is a simple, family fun event that involves favorite Easter goodies, like prize eggs, plush bunnies and treats for everyone to enjoy.

Hop Over to Del Ray April 17th for the 3rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt

DRBA President Eric Nelson said “The Easter Egg Hunt is a perfect excuse to bring the family to Del Ray and spend a fun afternoon on the Avenue. Special thanks to participating businesses and to our Sheriff Dana Lawhorne for providing support for this event.”?

Alexandria, VA -- The Del Ray Business Association (DRBA) invites neighbors, kids and canines to hop over to Mt. Vernon Avenue on Sunday April 17th from 1-4 p.m. for the association’s 3rd annual Easter Egg Hunt.

The DRBA has secured the Easter Bunny as a special guest for the day’s festivities. Events for kids begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Bean Creative Grassy Field located at the corner of Mt. Vernon and East Del Ray Avenues.

The Easter Bunny has agreed to pose for photos and will oversee TWO hunts for Easter Eggs in the Bean Creative Field from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.


At 1:00 p.m., he’ll join kids 6 and under as they hunt for eggs.

Second Annual Springfield 15K / 5K Set for June 4

The 2nd annual running of the Springfield 15K / 5K race will be held the morning of Saturday, June 4 in conjunction with the Springfield Days Festival.

For more than 20 years, Springfield Days weekend has been an annual community celebration of all that Springfield has to offer. Now this weekend also means a highlight on the racing calendar for area runners.

Mark Russell, co-owner of Metro Run & Walk, a Platinum Sponsor, is returning as race director. He envisions a growing signature event, “We think this race should be on every runner’s calendar because it combines so many great aspects: a terrific course, a stadium track finish, substantial community involvement, and a great charitable cause. Last year’s inaugural race drew 500 runners and walkers and raised more than $8,000 for local recreation and fitness programs for underserved youth. We could push 1,000 runners this year.”

Silver Diner Looking for Young Washingtonians to Star in TV Commercial

Young fans of the Silver Diner, ‘Next Generation’ diner of choice in the Washington, D.C. Metro Area, can audition to be spotlighted in the restaurant’s upcoming TV ad campaign. By filming homemade audition tapes, children ages 5 to 12 can upload their videos to YouTube – with a chance of being selected as one of the featured star talents.

As part of the restaurant’s initiative to communicate the importance of incorporating fresh and local ingredients in traditional menu items, Silver Diner has engaged in a strategic communications campaign, kicking off with a TV commercial set to air throughout the Washington, D.C. media market.

Continuing with the restaurant’s mission to be an active and engaged member of its local communities, Silver Diner is looking for children who are familiar with the diner and understand the importance of eating healthier.
