In celebration of America Recycles Day, the City of Manassas Public Works and Utilities is hosting its annual Recyclefest on Sat., Nov. 15 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Manassas Transfer Station, located at 8305 Quarry Road. Residents can recycle items and shred documents for FREE. For more information, call 703-257-8252 or go to www.manassascity.org.

Manassas, Va. residents will be able to recycle their household hazardous waste, electronic waste, gently used clothing and even shred paper documents for FREE.

“Each year, the United States generates more than 250 million tons of municipal solid waste— that’s more than four pounds per person, per day,” said Monica Boehringer, refuse and recycling coordinator of Manassas Public Works and Utilities.

Last year, the City of Manassas generated more than 2,500 tons of single stream recycling from curbside collection, 77 tons of electronic waste at the monthly drop-off days and 2,000 tons of yard waste, which is reused as landscaping material.
