On Sun., May 27, Jim Aram, CEO of Advantage Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, LLC and his staff are sponsoring and competing in the BRATS (Bristow Area Tri and Swim) Salute to the Military Triathlon, honoring military and encouraging youth and adults to embrace healthy lifestyles. The adult triathlon includes a 300-meter swim, a 12-mile bike ride and five-kilometer run, with shorter-distance children triathlons held afterward. Competitors are divided into several age groups and will begin the triathlon at 7 a.m. at the Vint Hill, Larry Weeks Outdoor Pool at 4248 Bludau Drive in Bristow, Va. ABOUT BRATS (Bristow Area Tri and Swim) SALUTE to the MILITARY TRIATHLON
The BRATS (Bristow Area Tri and Swim) Salute to the Military Triathlon was established by Kent Barker of Bristow, Va. He is retired from the United States Air Force and has been certified as a coach in several different sports as well as an experienced triathlon athlete. The triathlon is for novice to experienced athletes and honors military personnel and veterans. The event includes a 300-meter pool snake swim; 12- mile bike ride and a five-kilometer run. The mission of BRATS is to raise awareness of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle through the enjoyment of participating in triathlons and swimming for all ages.
