NORTHERN VA. SISTERS OPEN ‘ABOVE GRADE LEVEL’- IN-HOME TUTORING SERVICE

NORTHERN VA. SISTERS OPEN ‘ABOVE GRADE LEVEL’- IN-HOME TUTORING SERVICE

Above Grade Level of Northern Virginia recently opened its doors; an inspiration born from two Northern Virginia sisters, Elizabeth Colon and Christa Huntley of Alexandria, Va. Both new moms of infant daughters, they joined their passions for education and children. Above Grade Level of Northern Virginia serves most of Fairfax County, providing an in-home tutoring service for kindergarteners through 12th graders, including a free skills assessment. The program uses a customized approach with an in-home professional tutor, diagnostic evaluation, specialized teaching curriculum and a guarantee for results. For more information on Above Grade Level of Northern Virginia, call 571.620.0245 or visit www.AGLNOVA.com.

THE YEAR OF THE CONTRACTOR

THE YEAR OF THE CONTRACTOR

At the beginning of 2013, few Americans...
...Except those in the DMV and near military bases knew,
The extent to which our government contracted itself out,
The more non-permanent, private employees, the less the federal payroll grew.

But then came Edward Snowden,
His NSA disclosures still dribbling out,
Dollar darling Defense running ramrod over personal privacy,
Funds flowing freely, our military industrial complex went "walkabout!"

In the sixteen day government shutdown, "good cents!"
Congress authorized furlough pay for bonafide civil servants alone,
Just imagine if all federally related workers had been compensated,
Beltway Bandits temporarily thrown off the gravy train...hear them moan and groan!

THINK OUTSIDE THE DIGITAL BOX

                                                         THINK OUTSIDE THE DIGITAL BOX

There is an obvious point being lost in the discourse over the continuing difficulties with the ObamaCare web based exchanges, now twenty-one days old. The vision of medical care for all Americans has been around for over fifty years, well predating the Internet. So if such a program had been instituted at any point between the New Deal and Hillarycare, how would it have been implemented?

Monza and Carmello’s of Old Town Manassas, Va. became almost a second home to retired Col. Jack Lilley II, a long-time Catharpin resident, retired United States Marine Corp (USMC) and a war veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. After being a regular customer at Carmellos since 1978, the ‘Jack Special’ was born on Monza’s menu, with $1 of every order going to Lilley’s favorite charities:  the USMC Wounded Warrior Regiment and The Freedom Museum.
