Local Artist Update: Owen Danoff Opens for Kasey Chambers at Sold Out Birchmere Show

This story comes to us from Austin Schaefer

Local son Owen Danoff played to a sellout crowd of over 500 Country and Folk Rock fans at the renowned Birchmere Music Hall in Alexandria Virginia on Saturday night, July 9.  Most of the crowd was there to see headliner Kasey Chambers, who rocked the packed house with her distinct voice, beautiful songwriting, and poignant Australian stories, but Owen’s opening set was well received and his stage presence had the crowd laughing and ready to hear more.  He played alongside Berklee College of Music student and band mate Adrien Godat, who also strummed guitar and sang harmony.

OMG it got hotter! Grab some free VitaminWater from G40 tonight and this weekend to cool off. Below is a listing of the evening events and then the schedule for when the building is open. A good friend's piece is located on the second floor at the end of the hallway just past CON's train wall. Breaking a little ground for her. Check her blog for a picture of her wall. http://www.happy-accidents.tumblr.com. She also added a Rerun & Spray cans (one can, PureEvil is a collaboration with the mysterious Mar5) to the wheat paste room, as well as contributing some Old School Cameras to the Albus Cavus room & right out side the elevator (all available for purchase, just ask). Keep the comments coming.

All That Glitters: Laura Lee Designs Celebrates Fifth Anniversary at Finnish Ambassador's Residence

It’s not every day that one gets an opportunity to celebrate a professional milestone at an ambassador’s residence, but Laura Lee Williams, owner of Laura Lee Designs, had the good fortune to do so when she celebrated five years at the helm of her handbag business at the home of Finnish Ambassador Pekka Lintu and his wife Laurel Colless.

“What an honor and gift to have the loveliest evening surrounded by advisors, supporters and dear friends,” says Williams. “The Finnish Ambassador and his wife Laurel Colless are supreme hosts and I couldn’t have asked for a better evening.”
