The 20th Annual Bluebird Blues Festival is coming to Prince George's County on Saturday, September 22, from 12:30-6 p.m. at the Prince George’s Community College in Largo, Md.

The Festival offers live entertainment on three stages, music workshops and activities for the entire family for free!

Backpacks Collected For D.C. Area Homeless Children At FedEx Field Tonight!

Operation Backpack, an initiative that collects and distributes backpacks filled with school supplies to homeless shelters, wraps up tonight at the Redskins vs. Buccaneers preseason game on Wednesday.

The Redskins Charitable Foundation together with the non-profit, Volunteers of America Chesapeake are preparing area homeless students the tools necessary to excel in school with this drive.

“One of the most devastating consequences of homelessness is the impact it has on children’s education,” said President of Volunteers of America Chesapeake Russell Snyder.

Collection tables and donation bins will be available outside FedEx Field at the gate entrances.

Strathmore’s Music in the Mansion concert series opens on Thursday, September 27 with urban Jazz harmonicist and D.C. resident, Frederic Yonnet.

This talented musician is most famous for his duals with music legend Stevie Wonder and as a soloist with Prince. He has also performed with India Arie, Erykah Badu and The Jonas Brothers.

Yonnet creates a new memorable melody by combining jazz and R&B on his harmonica.

Tickets are $30.

Here's something fun to do this weekend for a good cause.

Old Dominion Boat Club will host the 2012 National Capital Area Leukemia Cup Power Poker Run on Saturday, August 25.

The Leukemia Cup, which started in 2007, is a national program that raises money through various sailing and boating events for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. Eight cents of every dollar raised is put toward research and patient services including financial aid for medical costs, support groups and educational programs.

Last year the events raised around $3.8 million nationally.

Civil War Experience Pass Provides Endless Opportunities

Interested in learning America’s history and discovering what life was like during the Civil War? Here's your chance.

The Civil War experience is now possible through interactive exhibits, tours and special programs at six historic sites in Prince William County and Manassas, Va.

Tourism Agency, Discover Prince William & Manassas, launched its Civil War Experience Pass this month for $15, which allows visitors to see six historic Civil War sites, such as: Manassas National Battlefield Park, Manassas Museum, Ben Lomond Historic Site, Bristoe Station Battlefield Heritage Park, Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre and Rippon Lodge. The pass is also good for 10 percent off at the Manassas Museum store.

The Civil War Experience Pass, which is valid through December 2013, can be purchased at the Manassas Museum, Rippon Lodge, Brentsville Courthouse and Ben Lomond.
