Alexandria Restaurant Week Spotlight: Jackson 20

Attention Foodies: Alexandria Restaurant Week is in full swing. Alexandria Summer Restaurant Week 2011 is a 10-day gourmet event that began on August 19th and will continue through August 28th.  You still have the weekend and a few days next week to take advantage of the culinary diversity!

There are $35 prix-fixe three-course dinners or $35 dinner for two depending on the restaurant.  Alexandria Restaurant Week will feature casual neighborhoods favorites, as well as several fine dining establishments.  A few participating restaurants include The Chart House Restaurant, La Tasca, A la Lucia, La Bergerie, Jackson 20, and Bastille.

Chef Dennis Marron is the Executive Chef at Hotel Monaco’s Jackson 20, as well as at The Grille at Morrison House. Marron said Jackson 20 is famous for their Southern Comfort cuisine, as well as their big portions so you may need to take home some doggie bags, or at least get your dessert to-go.

Above Chef Marron poses with “Betsy” the pig. Betsy was once stolen from the restaurant and returned the next morning because the person who stole her felt guilty about it. Other items that have been stolen from Jackson 20 include a sculpture of Andrew Jackson’s head and some antlers. Marron said sometimes the restaurant will host weddings and that’s when things can get a little rowdy, but you don’t need to expect that for Restaurant Week. Just please don’t go stealing Betsy!

Check out the menus of participating restaurants and make your reservations today.
