Sam Del Brocco Was Found Dead In Pompano Beach Home

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA) -- Police in Pompano Beach, Florida are investigating a murder mystery involving an Alexandria, Virginia businessman.

Investigators say 60 year-old Sam Del Brocco was killed in his Florida home. Del Bracco, the founder and president of PCI Communications, lived in Alexandria but traveled several times a month to his home in Pompano Beach, Florida.

Sunday night, when Del Bracco hadn't been heard from, a concerned 9-1-1 caller asked Sheriff's Deputies to check on his welfare. They found Del Bracco in his home, murdered.

"Unprecedented in over 20 years since I've been here. I guess you have to be careful everywhere these days," said Pompano Beach resident Dan Eaton.

In the quiet, gated community where Del Brocco's Florida home is located, residents were stunned to see a mobile crime lab and homicide investigators in their neighborhood.

"I don't know anything about it," said a concerned resident. When asked whether he thought he'd be safe in a gated community, he said, "That's why I live here. For the safety."

Added Eaton, "I was extremely surprised. I thought it was maybe a movie set."

Detectives are not yet releasing how Del Brocco was killed. PCI is a communications and strategy firm with offices in Alexandria and New York City.

Del Brocco's grief-stricken colleagues at PCI Communications issued a statement saying they were shocked and saddened by the sudden loss of their President and CEO.

Company officials have no other comment while the police investigation is underway.
