Police Believe Serial Burglar Is Back

GREAT FALLS, Va. (WUSA) -  Police are investigating more cases that may involve the serial burglary suspects in northern Virginia.

Fairfax County Police are investigating more attempted burglaries that happened sometime overnight, including one that was reported at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 10700 block of Riverscape Run.

Police report that there were a total of five attempted burglaries and one "suspicious event" reported overnight in the same Great Falls neighborhood.  But, nothing was taken in any of these cases, a police spokesperson tells 9News Now.

Police investigators believe the incidents could be related to a string of other break-ins and attempted burglaries in the county, that are believed to be the work of a serial burglar. Other nearby jurisdictions in northern Virginia are also reporting similar cases under investigation.

In Fairfax county alone, police say there have been 51 burglaries, 23 attempted burglaries, and a number of other incidents such as larcenies, and thefts from vehicles.

No one has been injured in any of the incidents yet. Although police won't say exactly what happened in Monday night's incidents, in the past, the burglar has pillaged through purses and wallets after entering victims' homes.

Police say if you have any information about the break-ins, they want to hear from you.
