Man Charged With Sexually Abusing Children

CENTREVILLE, Va. (WUSA) -- Fairfax County Police have charged a 22-year-old daycare worker, Siyamand Salehzadeh, with additional counts of molestation allegedly committed while he worked as an aide at the Minnieland Day School last month.

Salehzadeh was charged last week with sodomy after allegedly molesting a four-year-old girl who attended the school.

Thursday, additional charges were lodged against him, charging him with molesting a five-year-old girl.

"Now that we have two victims we obviously have to admit the possibility that there are more out there," said Police Public Information Officer "Bud" Walker.

"We are looking for any additional information that people can provide. If parents have any information we would like them to come forward," Walker said.

It's devastating for children," said licensed psychologist Pat Webbink, of Bethesda, Md.

"This kind of thing can have an effect on a person's life, the rest of their life," she said.

"They may avoid relationships. They may fear relationships. They may see people who interact with them, from the opposite sex in this case, as aggressors, as people who are violating them, so they may have the feeling that they can never trust a male again," Webbink told 9NEWS NOW.

Immediate therapy, she says, does help.

"A child needs to work this out and, when children are as young as these children are, some kind of play therapy would be useful for them.

"But, they need to work it out. If they don't work it out it stays inside and festers like a cancer," Webbink said.
