Dinner AND a Movie for $50?! La Tasca in Rockville Makes It Happen

Dinner and a movie for $50?! That seems unheard of by today’s standards, but La Tasca restaurant in Rockville, MD is making it happen.

Now at La Tasca you can have dinner and a movie for two all for $50. The package includes:

1 Starter Dish

5 Tapas

1 Dessert to share

2 Movie Tickets to ANY Regal Cinema with absolutely NO expiration date.

I spoke with La Tasca Manager Mariana Pisciottano to find out more about her restaurant and current promotions.

“We opened about 4 years ago. I love this location and we have a good response from the Rockville community. All of [Rockville Town Center] was still under construction when we started. We have pretty good business, but I feel like it’s getting better and better every year. 2010 was a great year for us,” says Pisciottano.

According to the restaurant, Tapa means “lid” or “cover” in Spanish. The origins of modern day tapas are not truly known, but it is widely believed that centuries ago at the end of long workdays, farmers and laborers would visit local “tascas” for a well earned drink, on top of which they would place a slice of bread to protect it from pesky flies. Over time the innkeepers gradually began placing snacks, such as cured meats and sausages on top of the bread slices.  Over time, the “edible lids” evolved into the beginning of the exciting tapas experience most are familiar with today.

“Tapas are small dishes, about appetizer size, so most people order a bunch of them to share.  This is what sets La Tasca apart. Most places you go and order one thing and that’s all you get to try. Here, you have four people and everybody orders a few things, so you get to try a big part of our menu,” says Pisciottano.

La Tasca aims to please, providing dishes for meat lovers, seafood lovers, and vegetarians. “Some of my personal favorite things to eat here is the chicken skewers,” says Pisciottano. Mar y Tierra is one of our new dishes that are good.  It is a mix of seafood and meat. For vegetarians I would recommend the Esparragos and asparagus, it is good; and also the corn rolls. Those are some of our most popular items.”

La Tasca will also be participating in D.C. Restaurant Week offering unlimited tapas for a limited time for $20 per person lunch and $30 per person for dinner.
