The Center for Alexandria’s Children (CAC) announces production is underway for its 2011 gala benefit, Oscar Night in Alexandria.  The event will raise funds for the CAC, a public-private partnership dedicated to the elimination of child abuse.   The CAC helps protect children and strengthen families by coordinating the investigation, prosecution, treatment and prevention of child abuse in one safe, child-friendly facility.

The benefit will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2011 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m at the Belle Haven Country Club. Belle Haven is located at 6023 Fort Hunt Road in Alexandria, VA.

The  Washington Capitals Co-Captain Mike Knuble and his wife, Megan are honorary co-chairs. The CAC will roll out the red carpet to recognize and honor two of Alexandria’s brightest stars and extraordinary individuals who have exhibited exceptional dedication and service to improving the lives of Alexandria’s children.  Honorees include:

*  The 2011 CAC Champion of Children Award will be presented to Dave Cleary who founded SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now) in 1988 to help ensure the safety of thousands of children in northern Virginia. 

*  The 2011 Outstanding Dedication to Alexandria’s Children’s Award will be presented to Alexandria Police Sergeant Bartholomew Bailey for his work with the Center and dedication to Alexandria’s children and families.
