Injured Officer Visits Police HQ For First Time Since Shooting

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- The Alexandria police motorcade that has been missing one of its own since a bullet sidelined him, arrived at Officer Peter Laboy's home, to provide a special escort for their wounded friend.

Laboy is wearing a helmet because part of his skull was cut away after he was shot in the head on February 27 while making a traffic stop.  The driver of a yellow cab has been charged in the shooting.

The partial skull removal is a common procedure for gunshot wounds to the head,  as it allows the brain to swell. A friend says fragments of the bullet remain in Laboy's head, also not uncommon for these injuries.  What is remarkable is Laboy's fast progress.

Sgt. Brian Thompson calls it miraculous.

Friend and fellow motor patrol officer Neal Sharma says he's been amazed at Laboy's recovery.  He says he's seen progress everyday with his speech, movement and cognitive abilities and memory.

Publisher, photographer probed over topless Kate photos

Publisher, photographer probed over topless Kate photos

PARIS (AP) - French prosecutors have placed the publisher and photographer of unauthorized topless snaps of Prince William's wife, Kate, under formal criminal investigation, they said Thursday.

Caroline Chassain, spokeswoman for the Nanterre prosecutor, said that Mondadori Magazines France and local photographer Valerie Suau were placed under investigation earlier this month over possible criminal exploitation of the images, which appeared in the French Closer magazine last September.

The photos showed the duchess of Cambridge relaxing at a private villa in Provence, in southern France, sometimes without her bikini top and, in one case, her suit bottom partially pulled down to apply sunscreen.

Chassain added that Suau's employer, local newspaper La Provence, was also placed under formal criminal investigation on Monday, but she did not elaborate.

The investigation will likely take months to complete.

Alexandria Police Officer Recovering After Being Shot in the Head

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Officer Peter Laboy visited fellow officers in a Superman helmet and T-shirt at police headquarters today.

Laboy returned home after spending nearly two months in a hospital. He has been recovering from a gun shot wound to the head which he sustained in a shooting on February 27 at a traffic stop in Alexandria, Va.

According to the police website, "Family and friends are overjoyed to have Officer Laboy home. His homecoming represents a step forward in Officer Laboy's rehabilitation, which is expected to take up to a year."

On March 10, a fundraiser hosted by Virtue Feed and Grain in Old Town and the Alexandria Police Association drew over 3,000 people and the event raised over $75,000 for the Laboy family.

Restaurant Owner Defends "No Kids" Policy at Del Ray Sushi Spot

Alexandria, Va. (WUSA9) -- It's a policy that's been compared to "apartheid" by some angry parents, but well known Alexandria restaurateur Mike Anderson is standing by his plan for a "no kids" sushi restaurant in the Del Ray section of town to open in May.

"It's not like were saying we hate kids, we don't want kids," Anderson told WUSA9. "I love kids. I have three great girls.  But you have to find a niche."

That niche is a small upscale sushi spot in at 2312 Mt. Vernon Ave. in the family friendly Del Ray section of town that will not allow patrons under 18.

The controversy exploded on the Del Ray Patch website with at least 112 comments logged in 14 hours.

Some promised not to patronize any of Anderson's other restaurants that do welcome kids including Holy Cow and Pork Barrel which sandwich the sushi restaurant now under construction.

Talking To Your Teenager About Sex In An Increasingly Sexualized World

WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Three Fairfax County teenage boys will soon be sentenced for their convictions last week for taking cell phone videos of sex acts.

In court, the boys and girls who were recorded talked about having sex as if they were doing something as casual as having lunch with someone.

There was a 14 year old girl who was recorded in bed with two boys.  She said she was drunk and had  sex with one of the boys and then the other.

Another girl had sex with a boy in a car while  friends were handing out in the parking lot.  Another girl got drunk after taking the PSATS and texted the boy she likes... asking him to have sex right then.  She and two friends go the boy's house she she can have sex with the boy.    Her friends are asked to stay outside because the boy's mom is upstairs.

Some teens told Judge Thomas Mann that  they had sex with someone with friends in around dozens of times.
