Twitter Must Give User Info In Wikileaks Probe

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) -- A federal magistrate has ruled that prosecutors can demand the Twitter account information of certain users in their criminal probe into the disclosure of classified documents on WikiLeaks.

Three of the account holders targeted by the government had asked the judge to reverse an earlier order she issued requiring Twitter to turn over the information to prosecutors.

A federal law allows prosecutors to obtain certain electronic data without a search warrant. In this case, the Twitter users say the government is abusing the law in a way that harms constitutional protections for free speech and association.

Lawyers for the Twitter account holders -- all of whom have some connection to WikiLeaks -- have said they will appeal.

This is an exhibition of approximately 200 10x10-inch works of art. The work on exhibit includes Torpedo Factory and DC-area artists, as well as Alexandria’s T.C. Williams High School National Art Honor Society Students. It will be on display in the Target Gallery from March 17 – March 27. All work will be for sale for $100 with 10% of all sales being donated to the March of Dimes. In addition, a selection of the artworks will be “loaded” with hidden prizes, and a raffle will be held at the art party for additional prizes, all donated by local businesses. The goal of this fundraiser is to raise money and awareness for the March of Dimes and the Target Gallery’s 2011 outreach programming.

The Perfect Date Spot in Old Town: Grape + Bean

The Perfect Date Spot in Old Town: Grape + Bean

Grape + Bean is a cute wine bar, wine shop and specialty coffee place set right in the heart of Old Town, Alexandria. The cozy feel makes this place a perfect spot for a first date, or even a 100th date. Many local Alexandria restaurants come in during the day to buy a bottle of wine, grab a coffee, or sit down for a wine flight and lunch. It is also popular during the evenings when the candles are lit, and the mood is shifted with dim lights and mellow music.

Cristina Ramos has been working at Grape + Bean for about 2 years, and she said that they have lots of regulars now, after just having their 3 year anniversary this past February. Grape + Bean started off as a retail wine shop, but 6 months after opening they expanded by adding a wine bar and food menu. The extensive wine list includes wines, pinks, reds, and bubbly. They have large plates, small plates, and a variety of cheese and charcuterie.

Alexandria Prepares For Possible Flooding

ALEXANDRIA, Va.  (WUSA) -- When the rain comes quickly, and has no where to go, streets and homes have been flooded. That's why Alexandria road crews spent the day suctioning garbage and debris out or storm sewers.

"Over the winter, leaves collect in the storm basins. Our crews have been out all day clearing them out to improve water flow during the heavy rain," said Tony Castrilli, Alexandria spokesperson.

The city has also made sand bags available to businesses and residents. Kim Reyes needs some for her basement.

"Our basement is leaking and the water proofing isn't understand the stairs. So we have water that comes into he basement under our stairs when it rains. So, until we can get it fixed, we're getting some sandbags," said Reyes.

The Wharf Restaurant on the corner of Lee and King Streets stocked up on a good supply of sand bags.
